A comprehensive history of Abbey Road music recording studios

This is where the stuff of legends is made. Situated in North West London, Abbey Road has been home to some of the greatest musical acts of the last fifty years. Originally created way back in 1931, it was in fact a former Georgian period town house which contained as many as nine rooms. One of the most popular acts to have graced this particular venue was the Beatles. McCartney, Lennon, Starr as well as Harrison all performed and recorded some of their most notable tracks here.

In fact they recorded the majority of their works for the best part of eight years between 1962 and 1970. In addition to this, they even auditioned in this very building while they actually performed a version of All You Need is Love which was beamed to more than 400 million people across the world. Meanwhile, after this particular period came a number of different groups who visited Abbey Road. They featured Deep Purple as well as Pink Floyd who went on to record Dark Side of The Moon.

This particular track was considered to be one of the most popular albums of all time thanks to a tally of more than fifty million sales. Other acts that stamped their historical record on these famous music recording studios include Sir Cliff Richard who recorded a host of songs towards the end of the 1960s.

Of course, the most famous aspect is the infamous zebra crossing close by which has featured on albums but there are other studios. If you are thinking of recording a few tracks but Abbey Road is a little out of your reach just yet, then check out others around the UK, including many in Scotland and Wales which have also housed many popular acts.
